What is Harbingers’ Magazine?

Harbingers’ Magazine is an innovative global media project—an online current affairs magazine written and edited by teenagers from different parts of the world and diverse walks of life.

Put simply, Harbingers’ is run by young people for young people under professional mentorship – each member of our editorial team has a mentor from the Oxford School for the Future of Journalism (OXSFJ) who supports them at every step of the way.

We are already present in almost every corner of the world, connecting teenagers from Afghanistan, Australia, Canada, Germany, Hong Kong, Kazakhstan, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States, Ukraine and other countries.

Through the annual Harbinger Prize and special projects, we hope to reach the youth worldwide, to report on and discuss on what is important to our generation.

To stay connected with Harbingers’, please sign up for our newsletter and follow us on social media.

We welcome all teenagers who would like to learn by practicing journalism. You can join on your own or with friends; by going to one of Harbingers’ pop-up summer newsrooms or connecting with us remotely.

If you have confidence in your skills, the best way to join the magazine is to submit an article for the Harbinger Prize. Alternatively, you can visit the Oxford School for the Future of Journalism to learn more about our pop-up newsrooms and remote learning options.

Like all of us, you will start as a Contributor – there, you will learn the fundamentals, write your first stories, and get familiar with the editorial procedures.

Once we know that we can rely on you, one of the editors may ask you to join their section—that’s when you become a Writer.
